ECEM

The CapnoBase was developed on the initiative of Dr. Walter Karlen and Dr. Mark Ansermino at the Electrical and Computer Engineering in Medicine research group (ECEM) at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 2009.

The ECEM research group is a unique collaboration of engineers, computer scientists, psychologists and clinicians focused on performing innovative research at the interface between technology and patient care. Our vision is to enhance patient-centered care using innovation in technologies and treatments. A key objective of ECEM is to develop the Intelligent Anesthesia Navigator (IAN), which aims to address the needs of modern anesthesiologists.

The CapnoBase database and website is currently managed and maintained by Dr. Walter Karlen.
